Green Light is a 1937 American drama film directed by Frank Borzage and starring Errol Flynn and Anita Louise. The film was based on a novel of the same name by Lloyd C. Douglas, which was a bestseller at the time. The story is about a young doctor named Newell Paige who sets out to find a cure for a rare disease that killed his wife and son. Along the way, he falls in love with a wealthy heiress named Phyllis Dexter, but faces many obstacles in their relationship.
Green Light was a critical success upon its release and was praised for its emotional depth and strong performances from its cast. However, it was not a commercial success and was overshadowed by other films released around the same time, such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and A Star Is Born. Despite this, the film has since been seen as an important example of Golden Age Hollywood filmmaking and a showcase for the talents of Flynn and Borzage.
